Ambassador Maria Oyeyinka Laose on July 18th 2011 in Bratislava met with The Director of Diplomatic Protocol of the Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ingrid Horvay, on the occasion of handing over copies of her credentials. Their discussion focused on strengthening the bilateral relations in various fields of common interest.

The relationship between Slovakia and Nigeria is cordial and friendly. Both countries continue to maintain improved relations. In 2008, the Minister of State 1 Foreign affairs visited Slovakia to explore further areas of mutual cooperation.

Similarly the former Governor of Imo State Chief Ikedi Godson Ohakim visited Slovakia in June 2008 to explore further cooperation and most recently, the former First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs.Hajia Turai Yar'Adua, visited the First Lady of Slovakia Mrs. Silvia Ga?parovičová on courtesy call.

 Effort is currently being made by the Embassy to further explore and attract foreign direct investment from the Slovak private sector.
